Today we take a look at a newly renovated home in Manifold Heights focusing on the bathroom and ensuite.
THE PROJECT
Georgie and her husband engaged a draftsman to redesign their weatherboard family home, originally two storys converted into single story with soaring ceilings which are amazing. Panozzo Builders project managed the renovation and extension which commenced in early November 2012 and was completed as scheduled in May 2013. During the building works, Georgie and her family rented in the same street allowing them to watch their home be transformed literally making site visits nice and easy; oh and they were still able to enjoy their in-ground swimming pool during the Summer months.
The family have in the past week moved back into their home, so I was very grateful for Georgie allowing us to visit during this chaotic time of moving.
This home is spectacular. A combination of modern contemporary finishes whilst respecting the original beauty of the home by enhancing some of it’s ornate features and keeping the original floorboards where possible.
The bathroom and ensuite feature honed Bluestone 600×300 floor tiles, it was important to Georgie that her carpet and tiles matched with minimal contrast to create a seamless connection between surfaces. White gloss 100×200 wall tiles create a fresh sense of space. Tiles in this format have made a massive come back (you may have heard the term subway tiles being thrown around recently) and are unchanged from 10-15 years ago. Usually past trends will be reinvented when they make their come back, but not these tiles, they remain exactly the same. The wall tiles are laid brick bond, proving to be increasingly popular also again.
Smartstone Carrara benchtops from the Santorini Range were used on the vanities which also feature in the kitchen. Georgie wanted her hard surface finishes to be consistent without too many variations in colours throughout the home. Georgie says she loves her ensuite and ‘Every morning I wake up and I feel like I’m in a motel.’
