Family Living Renovation – Kitchen Splashback Tiles in Geelong’s Manifold Heights

Hand made matt black tiles feature in this Manifold Heights family home renovation.

I’m greeted at the front door by James, a little blonde 2.5 year old and his mum Louise at their Manifold Heights home. Louise was very kind to have us in her home considering baby number three was due the following day.

THE PROJECT

Louise and her husband Colin have renovated their home and recently completed stage 4 (the final stage) being their kitchen/dining/living. The Kitchen has a large picture window overlooking their north backyard providing natural warmth and light into their home with a garden view including chooks. The kitchen was originally a bedroom, so the home has undergone an extensive reno.

Louise chose a hand made black matt finished tile providing a lovely contrast against the white kitchen cabinetry and stunning messmate timber benchtop made by Colin (timber supplied by Timber Zoo in Moolap). I was quite impressed with his workmanship and asked Louise what Colin does for a profession, assuming carpenter or similar trade, she says “He’s in IT.” Now I’m really impressed HA HA!

Splashback Tiles Geelong Renovation

Louise and Colin’s kitchen has a modern rustic feel and truly feels like a comfortable family home. Louise told me she laid the tiles herself and she was quite proud of that fact – and so she should be! She also felt honoured to be featured in our Project Spotlight blog as she didn’t feel like she had a designer bone in her body. But since visiting Louise I have news for her. Monday night’s episode of Channel 9’s THE BLOCK featured Louise’s tile but in white. Shaynna Blaze, celebrity interior designer and judge, LOVED the tiles and texture – THE BLOCK contestants Madi and Jarrod scored 29.5/30 for the room reveal!

Here at the TILEjunket we have Interior Designers who will give you the confidence and guidance when selecting your tiles. Louise commented that Pat and Paulina’s assistance was friendly, above and beyond of what she expected and absolutely hit the nail on the head with what she was looking for. Thank you for your kind comments Louise, it was a pleasure visiting your home and we wish you and your family all the best with your new baby.

I have to say, I really enjoy Project Spotlight and having the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people in our local region whilst showcasing their tiling projects whether they be extravagant or modest. We hope Project Spotlight gives you an ability to envisage your next tiling concept and some inspiring ideas from the Geelong and surrounding areas.
